Survival of the Fastest was a single elimination virtual running tournament that took place in June and July 2020. At the start of the tournament every runner was randomly placed into a 64-person bracket. Runners then went head-to-head against another competitor to see who could run the faster 5k. The runner who submitted the faster time advanced. The runner with the slower time went home.
In the Round of 32 the remaining runners faced off in a head-to-head 10k. Same rules. Same format. The faster runner advanced. The slower runner was eliminated. There were six rounds. Each round featured a different race distance, and lasted one week. During the week runners were free to attempt the distance as many times as they want, on any course of their choosing. The last man standing Ted Brakob and the the last woman standing Emmi Aguillard each walked away with $400
