Summer Block Party
Come out and join us for a special evening of racing presented by the Montclair Brewery! The Montclair Mile will take place on a spectator friendly ½ mile USATF certified course that starts and finishes at the Montclair Brewery. There will be races for runners of all ages and ability levels (and even a race for our four-legged friends!)
After you’re done racing, continue the celebration at the Montclair Brewery, where food trucks and drinks will be on stand-by. Every race entry comes with a drink ticket and a commemorative pint glass, so you can toast to your accomplishment with friends, fellow runners, and canine companions.

The races will start and finish in front of The Montclair Brewery (101 Walnut Street) in Montclair. All participants will be required to check-in for their races in front of the brewery before they compete.

The course is 1/2 mile and will start on Walnut Street heading west. Runners will make a right onto Forest Street, a right onto Sylvan Place, a right onto Erie Street (which turns into Depot Square), and a final right back onto Walnut to complete the loop. Instead of everyone racing at once, runners at the Montclair Mile will be broken up into small sections/heats that will go off throughout the night. It’s almost like a track meet, but instead of racing on a track you’ll be competing on a closed loop course. The small sections will allow everyone at the Montclair Mile to be a racer and a fan.

Yes! All runners will get a branded Montclair Mile pint glass as well as a drink ticket for a free drink at the Montclair Mile. All runners who signup before 8/1 will also get a personalized race bib with your last name.

There will be cash prizes ($300,$200,$100) for the top three in the men’s and women’s mile showdowns. There will be some additional prizes for winners of other races that will be announced in the coming weeks.

Yes! This event is an approved part of the USATF Grand Prix Points Series. There are 500 points available for this event.

6:40 pm - Kids Dash (1/2 Mile, 12 and Under)
6:55pm Paws and Pavement Mile (1 person + leashed dog)
7: 10 pm - Mens Elite 800 (1 loop)
7:20 pm - Women's Elite 800 (1 loop)
7:30 pm - Men’s Showdown Mile (5:00 or Faster)
7:40 pm Women’s Showdown Mile (6:00 or Faster)
7:50 pm - The 4 x 800 Relay

Purchase a Montclair Mile baseball cap when you signup for the race. These are high quality, low fitting five-panel style hats.
This event will help support the work of Toni’s Kitchen, a food ministry of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Montclair, NJ. Their goal is to ensure reliable access to healthy food for residents of West Orange, Montclair and Bloomfield. Toni’s Kitchen provides food to their neighbors in need in ways that respect their dignity, improve health, and foster independence. Toni’s Kitchen will be on-site at the event on August 7.
