The Golden Gate Relay
On Friday, October 25, as part of REI’s Bay Area Run Week, REI, On & Trials of Miles are teaming up to host a 4 x Mile relay race on the trails in Golden Gate Park, during Golden Hour. Each relay team will be made up of two runners, who each will run two loops of the mile long course, alternating laps and handing off a baton at the end of each loop.
The race will start at 5:30pm. Runners can check-in for the event at Lindley Meadow, between 4:00pm and 5:15pm, where teams will receive their bibs and batons. All registered runners will get a branded baton (pictured below) as an event giveaway!
You can sign up with a partner or individually (and we'll assign you a partner), but this event is open to runners of all ability levels. More information, including details on the course, team categories, awards, and more can be found below.

Signup with a Partner or Solo
You have two options when signing up for this event:
1. Sign up with a teammate (make sure to come up with a fun team name when you register); or
2. Sign up individually, and we'll pair you with a partner a few days before the event.
The cost is $25 if you signup as an individual, and $50 if you signup as a team.

Race Divisions
Your team can choose to compete in one of four race divisions:
1. Men's Team Race;
2. Women's Team Race;
3. Non-Binary Team Race; or
4. Mixed Team Race (two teammates have different gender classifications)
Prizes will be awarded to the fastest team in each race.

Team Costume Contest
In addition to prizes for the fastest teams, there will be a special prize for the best team costume. It's the perfect excuse to break out those halloween costumes a few days early!
The Lindley Loop
The mile long loop is a mix of grass and dirt trails. Runners will start in Lindley Meadow. They will run across the Meadow and immediately head up onto the main dirt trail. They will continue east on the trail until the trail ends, then will hang a right and drop down into Helman Hallow. Runners will run across Hellman Hollow back towards the Polo Field. They will then turn right onto the dirt path outside the Polo Field, will stay on that until just past the corral, and then make a hard right back across Lindley. They will then run up onto the dirt path along the road, turn right and complete the loop back to the starting spot. A diagram of the loop can be found below. The Strava route can be found here.

The starting line and check-in area is located in Lindley Meadow. For GPS/driving directions, use the following address: 1000 John F Kennedy Dr
San Francisco, CA US 94122. -
There is street parking along John F. Kennedy Drive, near the starting line. However, please note that space is limited, and we encourage people to walk or bike into the park.

The race will begin at 5:30pm. You must check-in for the event before 5:15pm. Check-in will open at 4:00pm.

Please connect with your partner before race day and designate who will be responsible for getting your team's bibs and batons. Only one of you should check-in for the team.

When you check-in and get your bibs you will be given two bibs with your team name. The runner on your team who is going second (running the 2nd and 4th legs), and finishing the race should be wearing the bib with the plastic chip on the back. That tag will be needed to record your official time.

After the race is over we'll be heading to The Kezar Pub (770 Stanyan St, San Francisco, CA 94117) for some celebratory drinks. All are welcome to join!
