Future Champs - Grand Slam Track
Future Champs at Franklin Field is a youth running event taking place on Sunday, June 1 (the final day of the Grand Slam Track meet). This event gives young athletes the unique opportunity to race on the same track that will host some of the world’s best just hours later. Future Champs is open to kids ages 6-18 and all experience levels, with a variety of short-distance races (100m, 400m, and 800m) designed to encourage participation and fun.
We are just a few days out from race day and have some important information below. Please review this information carefully before you arrive at the track on Sunday!

FAQs
Where and when is check-in?
Athlete credential check-in for the event starts at 9:30am on Sunday and will run up until 2:00pm. Athletes will be able to grab their racing bib and safety pins which will be worn on the front of their racing uniform, a wristband which will give them access to Franklin Field (they do not need a spectator ticket), and an ice cream ticket (see below). Athletes will need to check-in at the Southwest corner of the Franklin Field facility, near the corner of South Street and Convention Ave. For GPS coordinates of approximate check-in location, click here.
Where Can I Find Heat Sheets and Schedule?
The event schedule is linked at the top of the page. Heat sheets are being created as we speak and will be sent out by Friday evening. Please note, while the meet is expected to start on time at 11:45am, we can run up to 10 minutes ahead of schedule throughout the event. Please make sure your athlete gets to clerking 25 minutes before the start of their race! If the event is 5-10 mins ahead of schedule, we will make announcements over the PA system.
Where Can I Warmup for Future Champs
Penn Park will be open for warmups starting at 9:30am. It will close at 2pm. Athletes can show their wristbands to go to and from the warm up facility. For GPS coordinates of Penn Park, click here.
What Time Do Franklin Field Doors Open?
The doors will open to Franklin Field at 11:00 am. Parents will need to show a ticket at this time to enter the facility and will be given a wristband at that time which notes to our staff that they are associated with the Future Champs youth meet. There will be an entrance into Franklin Field right next to the Athlete Credential Check-In Area and for any ADA access needs, you can find an entrance here.
WHEN DO I NEED TO REPORT TO CLERKING?
Clerking will begin 25 minutes prior to the start of each race. NOTE: While the meet is expected to start on time at 11:45am, we can run up to 10 minutes ahead of schedule throughout the event.
Where do Athletes Meet with Parents after they Race?
At the conclusion of each race, athletes will be brought back through the Big East Gate, past the clerking area and toward the athlete credential area where they will be reunified with their families (particularly the younger kids in the 6-12 year old age group). We will have people from our staff staying with the kids until they are picked up by parents.
Where is the Meet & Greet?
An athlete autograph meet & greet will take place from ~2:00pm - 3:00pm on the west side of the stadium under the scoreboard. We are awaiting a few final details related to this piece and will send another e-mail (along with heat sheets) by Friday evening.
